TOMASZ JANAS

Tomasz Janas - graduate of the Polish Department of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. A music critic for Gazeta Wyborcza in Poznań and member of the editorial team of Czas Kultury, he published also, among others, in Jazz Forum. He has cooperated with the Radio Centre of Folk Culture and the Poznań-based "Rock-radio," he was also a participant of the artistic council of the "Poznań Jazz Fair" festival. He serves as a juror at "Nowa Tradycja", "Mikołajki Folkowe", and "Folkopranie" ("Ethnosfera") folk festivals, as well as at the "Folk Phonograph of the Year" competition. In 1999 he was awarded the artistic grant of the City of Poznań. A long-standing contributor to Gadki z Chatki folk periodical, in his articles he gives a critical, yet sympathetic overview of the folk scene in Poland. A person well-oriented in the newest trends and tendencies in Polish folk music.
